Active Downhole
Swarf Collection Technology

QUICK FACTS

  • 100% verified swarf capture in a single run
  • Tool versions covering: 9 5/8″–10 3/4″ and 13 3/8″–14″ (18 5/8″–20″ in development)
  • No clean-up runs. No time spent on BOP clean up
  • Compatible with all major whipstock providers

Technology developed in co-operation with Equinor, Innovation Norway and Research Council of Norway. Patented technology.

How It Works

The Swarfix® WCT operates using a unique, active swarf capture system designed to imporve the exisitng conventional way of swarf collection by string magnets. As milling debris is generated, the WCT’s integrated components work together to ensure complete, controlled downhole collection:

  • Anchor Sub — Locks in place and keeps the magnet sleeve clean during operations.
  • Self-Cleaning Magnet Sleeve — Continuously captures metallic swarf without loss of efficiency.
  • Conveyor Screw — Transports swarf into the container for secure storage.
  • High-Capacity Container — Holds debris downhole, allowing controlled backload at surface.

This closed-loop process prevents swarf from re-entering the wellbore, reduces HSE risks, and ensures predictable operational performance.

Swarfix® WCT 1338 and Swarfix® WCT 958

Description:
The patented Swarfix® Well Cleaning Tool (WCT) actively collects, stores and secures swarf in a sealed container downhole during milling operations — leaving return flow above Swarfix®WCT, swarf-free.
The 1338 model is designed for casing exits in the 13 3/8″–14″ range, with proven performance in whipstock window milling operations.
The 958 model is designed for casing exits in the 9 5/8″–10 3/4″ range, delivering the same active swarf capture performance as the 1338 model in smaller casing sizes.

Key Benefits:

  • 100% verified swarf capture in casing exit operations
  • Prevents swarf circulation through the BOP — improving safety, reduce carbon footprint by improved operational efficiency, and lowering cost
  • Eliminates the need for offshore swarf handling
  • No change in OD/flow area during the milling operation(no ECD impact)
  • All swarf captured, stored and secured downhole for correct waste handling onshore

Applications:

  • Whipstock window milling/polish
  • Clean out
